These are brand new shows - so who knows if they can continue to be great - but they are hilarios right now - some of the best that TV has to offer at the moment - these and the Middle is pretty great!

I know, I thought about if they should be on my list being so new and all but I love these two shows.
I probably should have left them off...see how the seasons progress.

Call me a cheat, but I'm going to split these into two categories...

Past shows, no longer being produced:
Millennium
Rome
Deadwood
The Wire
The West Wing
American Gothic
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Babylon 5
Oz
The Prisoner (original)

Current shows, still airing:
Lost
24
Doctor Who (I consider this a continuation of Classic Who)
Sons of Anarchy
Breaking Bad
Supernatural
Dexter
House
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Rescue Me

And that still misses out on so many shows I love from over the years...

there is at least 1 show i was expecting to see on your list sledge but i could do the same with the current shows, because something like Breaking Bad for example is a show i love, but with only 2 seasons it's hard for me to declare "best ever" just yet

Well the subject line says "top ten favourite tv shows", it didn't say best ever...so they are my fave current shows, and my absolute fave past shows. Or some of them at least, in case of the latter. And no, unfortunately, ol' Sledge Hammer! doesn't quite make the top ten cut, much as I love it...

Now whether any of my current fave tv shows end up being worthy of my all time favourite list isn't something I can really judge until after they are done and put away to rest, as their complete stories, let alone how well they age and hold up on repeat viewings, is yet to be seen for me. Hence the two different categories.
