I
am the end costumer.
Why would I concern myself with a retailers inner deal-making and distribution arrangements?
What matters is the price I pay and the service I recieve.
You order a lot more of this stuff than I do and ever will, so your metrics may be different than mine.
If something costs me $200 to get it to my door from the manufacturer, and it costs me $201.50 to get it to my door from a local retailer that I know and who has served me well in the past, there's not much hesitation there.
I'll happily pay the extra $1.50 pittance to help keep that local retailer operating, and viable, as a resource in the future.
If the only real trade off is the length of time to get it, it's not a real problem for me. I can usually wait.
Anticipation is one of the true pleasures of this hobby for me, frankly. It's all good.
If something else is available for a net cost that is even less than buying direct, that's great!
But it doesn't make the cost of the other piece being at par, a worse value.
There is no free lunch. BBTS has a $4 shipping "deal" that results in inflated product costs in general for a lot of stuff.
Factor everything in and make your decision.
At the end of the day, final cost to have it in my hands is what I want to know. Everything else is just trivia.
