I wouldn't say this statue is strictly classic, XM seems to have put in extra trim lines throughout the costume so it's not just the standard comic costume lines.

But one, Vulture's flight comes from a harness worn under his costume, NOT the wings, just wanted to clarify that much first...maybe not the criminal mastermind Doc Oc is, but Vulture is smart enough to reconstruct his flying harness:

Second, hard wings, because they typically aren't true blades, isn't a new or modern concept. The wings can be harder or more feathery depending on the artist, but in old comics he did use the wings as weapons:

The only difference between the classic comic wings and the wings XM sculpted are the tech details on the outer layer of the wings they added in, which to me is more a design choice than anything else. Take those off, you have your "classic" wings.
The tech details make me think Archangel not Vulture, but your points make a lot of sense... And

Yeah .... That posse nails the character right there. So far the character of these Spidey Villians has been darn near perfect.... If not perfect.

Assume Tomes won't be as physically large as Magneto, but yeah ... The height and wingspan are going to be off the chart.

first thing that popped in my mind. At 1/4 scale this thing is going to have an unreal foot print.

Having said that, I cannot resist it.
