I haven't seen Indy yet, or Iron Man, or Prince Caspian. But let me ask you something...would you have been happier if Indy had been gooped up with the CGI and plodding storyline that the Star Wars prequels had? From what I can see and determine, it has a look and feel that's consistent with the first three movies (while admittedly not the strongest), which is all I want.
I mean, we're talking about a movie franchise whose source materials are archaeologists from the turn of the century and the old movie serial dramas. WHERE IN THE SOURCE MATERIAL IS THERE OSCAR-CALIBER MOVIE MAKING?
Seriously. I think people expect -too- much from summer blockbuster movies. They're made to enjoy and shut off your brain for two hours, not to deconstruct.
Now, onto my gripe....
Andromeda Strain was better than I'd heard, and I was really looking forward to watching it tonight. However, A&E has managed to screw over my DVR by re-running last night's performance consecutively with the last half tonight, with no program break. Which means that I -wasted- last night watching it, and it's just a good thing that I noticed that it was like that, or I wouldn't have had the second half recorded.
This is why networks cancel shows too early. They **** over your DVR, then wonder why no one is watching.
