Just because the fundamental premise that the world is based on (super powers, costumes, etc) is impractical doesn't mean that gives carte blanche to have EVERYTHING in the world be impractical and it not matter.
Yep.....it's impractical for a rich guy to use a grappling hook to navigate rooftops at night while dressed like a Bat. But in the world where that guy DOES exist, I think it's probably safe to say that guy would not wear a 20 ft long cape while attempting to fight crime and smoothly move about the city.
I get what you're saying, but if someone is going to just use the flat rebuttal of "It's a world where people have super powers, it's all impractical" then that's giving creators/story tellers a LOT of rope to basically just do whatever they want and not have it matter. Even in an impractical world, there has to be some adherence to logic or else nothing matters.
