I can understand the $800 price tag may have been intimidating to some, but you're getting TWO 1/4 scale statues in the package. On top of that, the base is relatively huge compared to most pieces. When I looked around at what ARH and other companies were charging for their 1/4 scales last year, it seemed like a reasonable deal to me.
Now seeing this in hand, I'm definitely glad I went for it.

Just to be clear, Leonidas was $465 so he was closer to $500 than $400.

Mine has stopped asking how much they cost... I just say they charge me a monthly fee and I pay them off a little each month. Which is true... Except for the barbarian... But I don't think she would even conceive that it could cost $800. At least I'm hoping not!!!

That's why I posted "It is the best $75 I ever spent" earlier, because that's what my wife thinks they cost. One day she said something like "You spend too much on these damn statues. They probably cost like $75 or $100" and I said, "Well not all of them, price really varies based on subject, sculptor, etc" which left her the impression that $100 would be a high price rather than on the very low end.
If she ever figures out how much money really went missing I plan to tell her that I pissed it away drinking, gambling, and womanizing. Honestly I think that would be easier for her to take.

If it ever comes to that, I imagine you also have a solid getaway plan in place.

I really think you are underestimating your wife. I also lie occasionaly to my wife but to a smaller degree...... like a $500 statue becomes $350 or something like that

My wife loves it. She knew exactly how much it cost, but was stunned by the size, and understood why the high price tag, but thought the quality was incredible.
She was more impressed with Arkhalla, but the Arkhalla was her idea.

Just set mine up... FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!! If you can your hands on a Barbarian, do it. In my top 5 for sure! Bring on the Huntress. I didn't order Death Dealer, but I might have to find one...

...was just pointing out that it's a very high price, even for people in this hobby. Likely that turned buyers away.
But it's obvious here that ARH thought they could charge a premium for the most legendary Frazetta painting and they probably went a little high. Huntress is 3 statues and is $100 less and Tarzan Primal Rage is freaking enormous and is approx $250 less.
Saying that, after seeing in hand pics I wish I had of bought lol
Never actually realized Leo was more than Achilles. I was only interested in and bought Achilles and being very similar and released at the same time, I thought they had identical prices. I think Leo had an extra switch out arm?
(...I would have paid extra for a switch out spear arm for Achilles)

ARH is strange. If you don't call you may end up waiting a long time for nothing. I didn't see a payment come out for a while so I was wondering if something was wrong. I call and it turns out I was fully paid and all they had to do charge me the shipping and ship out. If I wouldn't have called how long would I have waited???? Anyway I got my shipping notice. When you do get someone on the phone they're very helpful so that's good. I'm excited. I hope the Styrofoam isn't as bad as some say. I need to be able to take this thing out to make sure it isn't damaged and put it back without destroying the Styrofoam.

Understood. I agreed that the price might have been intimidating. Judging by the poor sales performance of the line and lowering of the edition sizes, the target audience apparently wasn't willing to spend that kind of money. Even the most hardcore of Frazetta fans.
However, I still don't feel the price was terribly unreasonable for what you were getting. Everyone has their own opinion of what's a good value and what isn't, though.

There might be some truth to that. Perhaps the Frazetta family had some say in it too. I believe Barbarian and Death Dealer I were the priciest of the line at $800. It would make sense to try and capitalize on their popularity.
That being said, they were both probably the most complex to produce. In Barbarian's case, didn't Ehren sculpt Barbarian and the slave girl traditionally? I recall some of his progress reports and the videos mentioning lots of long hours and revisions went into it.

Fair point. In the case of Huntress, even though you're getting 3 statues, I agree the source material probably isn't on the same level of popularity as DD or Barbarian. I don't feel it's as complex as those two either.
Even though Tarzan is a different license, I agree it is comparable in that you're also getting two statues in the package. The license may be cheaper though. I don't know.

Yeah, Leo's EX is a switch-out that allows him to hold the shield instead of having it rest on the base. Also, the extra portrait with no helmet.
