my understanding was that the dome was laserscanned from the original helmet used in the movie. it was not sculpted

If they scanned a dome, they scanned the wrong one. Probably scanned the Episode 3 dome or a promotoional suit. From the pics we've seen, I don't believe for one minute that they scanned a screen used Empire or Jedi dome.

It's not just the pic. The leg IS awkward and doesn't match any pose that Vader stood in at any time in any of the classic trilogy. It's an exaggerated, aerobic pose and I'm baffled about why they went ahead with it and can't believe that Steve Wang was happy with such a stupid pose.
We've already seen pics of this statue from every angle after its debut last year at Comic Con and the leg looks awkward from EVERY angle.
Such a shame.

To each his own. I for one will be picking one up. To date, I have not been disappointed with the selected pose of past CM releases. The pose chosen for Vader continues to grow on me and I'm certain I will love it when I have him in-hand. Pics and review will follow.
