with exception of the 'video game' sequence, I thought The Beach was decent wonderful scenery & soundtrack.
the video game sequence just threw too much WTF-erfy. And the film just went off the rails for me.

I think Black Swan in some way should have won Best Picture last year.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I actually went to the theater for this movie and felt the same way. Very disappointed. Only had two scenes worth watching (and you know the two I am talking about), that's about it.

I may try and rent this movie. Having watched Pi, The Fountain, Requiem for a dream he has been an almost hit and miss story teller. His films are shot beautifully though. Personally I think he is an over rated director on what he has produced to date. Maybe in the future he will produce a movie I love. No one can tell me this guy is in the same league as David Fincher.

La Doppia Ora / The Double Hour (2009) - All is not what it seems after a woman and her boyfriend are victims of an armed robbery. 8/10

I'm seriously in shock over the amount of praise this film has received. I can honestly say I found no redeeming qualities here and my rating feels generous. What a pretentious film. Where do I start? The camera work is jumpy, the film appears unnecessarily grainy, none of the characters are likable, its rife with cliches, the narrative is simplistic and weak but worst of all it tries to pass itself off as some sort of psychological art project. I'm sure I'll get criticized for this but this is easily the worst film I've seen since Twilight. Not even Portman's performance felt noteworthy. Just awful on every level.

Dayum!

I haven't seen this yet, but since I've come to trust your judgement I may hold off for a while.

Well just don't let my harsh review of this film keep you from seeing it and formulating your own opinion. I know a lot of people here whose judgement I trust that liked it so you never know you may like it too.
