This is my first Hot toys order for the reasons mentioned above.

Agreed it shares some of the features of a traditional action figure (articulation) however, it also shares a lot of features common in high end statues.

Just like we're seeing in the Blitzway Marilyn Monroe statue, companies are getting smart as to what " technology" can be used to reach out and grab customers and provide a leading product.

I think 1/4 scale articulated PVC based products are here to stay, and not only that, I think these WILL become the high end products of the future. Polystone statics will become the "cheaper" cousin. Not to veer too far off piste, but imagine what a 1/4 or 1/3 scale Phicen will do to the BJD market!?!
well said. I'm waiting on final specs of the 1/3 CM version to see which version I will buy. The quality of the 1/4 HT seems really good, they really need to put more effort into that line. They're off to a good start this year, but they need to do Thor and CA in this scale too. Hulk would have too many ugly joints. They seem to wait for the 1/4 versions to put out the best human likeness too. After all these years, they finally nailed Bale and RDJ.

So what's the consensus on when to order this?

Since it's a year out do you wait?

Doesn't seem to be an edition size?

I'm new to the HT stuff

thanks

You have some time, but don't wait too long.

The QS Batman and Endoskeleton are no longer available at retail. BBTS has Bats, but with their usual markup.

Put in my order for this. It will be my first Hot Toys figure as well. Having never owned or even held a Hot Toys figure I was a bit apprehensive about pulling the trigger. But the more I look at it, the more impressed I am with the piece (from what I can assess visually from pics/vids).
I really disliked the bulky shoulders on the 1/6 mark 42/43...they seemed really out of place. This one doesn't seem to have that problem at all. The base seems quite nice and I think it'll pose well with other 1/4 scale statues. Hopefully I'll be as impressed as I am now when I get it in hand.
We'll see in a year

After much consideration, I pulled the trigger on this too. The Robert Downey Jr portrait is too good to pass over. It also helps that I haven't order any of the 1/6 scale.

OK...Ordered!

Couldn't pass this up. I'm not a 1:6 guy but these 1:4 scale figures are just soooooo cool.

Same. Hot Toys makes great stuff, but I want to stick with the 1/4 scale. Pick this up on day one. Can't wait.

I don't love this particular armor but if more 1:4 armors are on the horizon than I will definitely be interested.
