I don't get this show. The Catwoman guy was the only true intervention. The Star Wars collectors just seemed to have a mass of mostly modern stuff.

How did that toy store owner never see a 12" Mego Hulk before?

I have one and even I know that Mego made 2 different versions, regular and fly away action, and they both came wearing white shirts.

I think both were necessary interventions.

To me the SW couple was by far the worst though. They didn't even know what was in their collection anymore and it had consumed their entire house. It didn't make a difference if they had some great pieces in there because the amount of clutter kept any individual item from being appreciated. I think it stops being collecting and becomes hoarding at that point. Plus I think its unhealthy when material items carry that much emotinal weight or shapes your lifestyle and it clearly defined theirs.

The Catwoman collector was a bit more typical. His collection wasn't really that big. The big problem I saw was that it wasn't being well cared for or displayed in an appropriate manner. Any time a collection gets to that point I think you need to evaluate whether it's necessary having it anymore let alone fueling it with new items.

Unlike the SW couple I actually think the Catwoman collector made progress and changed his ways. The SW collectors will just replace what they sold with more items in time.

Yeah, if that Catwoman collector didn't shape up divorce was probably looming. That is if the show is really real.

Maybe I've seen so many similar Star Wars collections that what was shown on the show didn't strike me as odd.

It didn't seem that odd to me,either. With the exception of the huge Gentle Giant statue, everything she sold could've been shoved under a bed, out of sight.Hellboy is right about the wife's emotional connection to the collection, though. Way too severe!

I think the whole idea with the Catwoman collector was not just that the guy was storing his collection in the garage where nobody could see it, but that they were sinking further and further into debt, and nothing was being done about it, and the solution was right there in the garage.
