I think region coding is down to the discretion of the movie company. Warner and Paramouont don`t use region coding at all.
As for Sony, wasn`t there talk that they were only going to region code titles that were less than 12 months old.

I really hope the Region coding is dropped but is suspect it won't. Have just ordered a couple more from A.co.uk. Alien v Predator and Ultraviolet.

T2 is not worth the purchase at the moment for me as its only the theatrical cut, I`m holding off on until they give it a proper release.
Can anyone confirm if movies such as Knights Tale, Tears of the Sun and Black Hawk Down are theatrical or extended cuts?

Don't know about Knights Tale, but both Tears of the Sun and Blackhawk Down are theatrical cuts. I don't think any movies that's been released with extended cuts on DVD are available on BluRay or HD DVD, King Kong and King Arthur among others.

Thanks Kaza, I thought perhaps Knights Tale may have been, due to the cover.

Here's the good news (and for those who care to pick up this movie). Extended cut of Ghost Rider will be released in Blu Ray the same day the standard dvd is released. A sign of things to come for both HD DVD and Blu Ray. I'll be picking this movie up for sure.

Recieved my first blu-ray disc today - Underworld Evolution - not had a chance to watch the whole thing yet but from what i`ve seen the picture quality isn`t amazing (sharpness wise) more like a very good dvd transfer. The trailers I downloaded on the PS3 for casino royale and ice age 2 look alot better. I`m actually thinking of getting the film on HD-DVD also for a comparison to see if it`s just the film that`s not a great transfer. I`d prefer to buy blu-ray as the PS3 is alot quieter than the 360, but if it means sacrificing picture quality then i`ll stick with HD-DVD except for the blu-ray exclusives.
