My submission for Gallery 1988’s Crazy 4 Cult show in NYC. Predator is my all-time favorite movie, so when I finagled my way into this show, I was wicked excited to finally be able to do a Predator poster. For non-Predator fans, the title is referencing Dutch (Schwarzenegger) as the lone Special Ops team member that made it out of the jungle, as there are only 6 skulls. Also, in the “sequel” Predators, Noland refers to himself as “the one that got away”, so I thought that it would be a neat homage.
The original intention was to utilize glow-in-the-dark inks for the Predator’s blood, however, due to multiple reasons (time constraints, cost, color-palette, yadda, yadda), I couldn’t make it happen this time. Rest assured, one day I will do a full cast Predator poster with GID inks, not sure when or with whom, but it’s my dream poster, so I’ll make it happen.
Also, I need to give a huge thanks and shout out to the printer of this poster, John at Headlight Hotel in Providence. This poster was insanely last minute, I drew it in 3 days last week, and all 100 copies were printed in 2 days with no notice, so Headlight really came through for me on this one with incredible color-matching and print quality.
Crazy 4 Cult NY will open in August 9th, with an opening reception from 6-9 PM, at 64 Gansevoort St. in the Meat Packing District. The show will stay up in this location through September 1st, and will feature over 200 artists.
I’m planning on driving down from RI for the opening reception, so come say hi! I will also have a bunch of copies for sale at my site after the show is over for $30.
