Hi Turtle

I prefer the Warts and All approach by HCG, an original untouched casting which is just been painted.
I have the statue and everything shows the details as sculpted by Giger.
They did right by taking and keeping an 'As Is' casting.
If they had added there own modifications, it would no longer be original.

As for the damage on your Bust, this is really bad to hear, i feel for you buddy.
Hope you get it resolved soon.

mooganstooker, how abaout some nice images of your Statue, welcome to the club

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

HCG actually made significant modifications to the head. I don't know why but apparently it had something to do with the production molds. The changes can be seen in the difference from the propstore statue which is also from the original Giger mold:

I'd be all over this statue and bust if not for the changes made by HCG...:crazyal:

Vader, thats a very good point.
The statue sold by propstore a couple of years ago could have been modified by who ever put it all together.

We will never know the truth about the head mold, perhaps HCG just put everything together as it came out the mold and it ended up as it did?

One of lifes interesting mysteries.

Mark (HCG owner) is a member of this board. maybe he can enlighten us on the origins of the alien head from the statue. I did hear that the propstore version was heavily modified by a scottish artist to make it look better. I heard that on this board.

Mark, can you tell us where the head has its origins? Is it a casting of a stunt head or a reproduction by another artist?

ALIEN
Just wanted to chime in - I've done considerable research recently on the original Giger alien sculpts, suits and mechanical pieces and the idea of an "original untouched casting" just isn't likely if even possible at this time.

An “original suit” was auctioned off months ago and there are high rez pics available of the piece. The mouth on that suit’s head is so far off anything seen in the film it’s painfully obvious it was “reconstructed” at some point. Urethane foam and Latex deteriorates over time, as does silicone used for most of the original negative molds. Look up pics of the alien heads in Bob Burn’s collection and you’ll see what a real prop would look like at this point. Same for the molds. After about 4 years silicone rubber starts to really degrade – 20 years and we’re practically talking about puddles of goo. The likelihood of finding a hard (fiberglass or rigid urethane) casting pulled from the original film molds that’s complete and undamaged or warped is damn near impossible. Not to mention that it’s likely the original casts were designed with separate parts that were assembled on the final, so it’s not a single mold but likely to be several.

It doesn't. Giger did that intentionally as a way of making it even more terrifying. It still senses you without eyes.

Leftover residual characteristic from the human host. The alien has senses we cannot even begin to comprehend.
