Check out MK Ultra's pic @ post 370. I really think it it supposed to be like that. It looks as if it is supposed to discolour as it reaches the back.

Though the only way you will know for sure is having someone else photogrpah the same spot to put your mind at rest. Congratulations all the same.

I see what you mean. I saw that one too - it does kinda look like it isnt painted all the way on his too,
but it is still too hard to tell from that angle to be 100% sure.

I am sure someone here will photograph it for you, and I am sure you will find it is supposed to be like that, and then you can get down to the business of enjoying the piece.

So is your concern over the gradual shading into "black" (from front to back of the crown) OR the cream spots I've circled, or both?

Mainly the cream spots - they look like they are paint application errors...I feel like if they weren't there my eyes would not drift up to them, and then the fade would not be an issue either.......I probably would not of even noticed the fade

If those dots don't look like obvious chips, I would use a damp Qtip and try rubbing it off. You don't know how many times I thought a statue had a chip and it turned out to be something on the paint.
