You weren't the only one who loved Cloverfield SuperDoug, you must have missed Bullseye's thread, there are plenty of likeminded individuals that posted there

Anyway, I've always thought a good, hearty movie debate is just the thing to maintain a good friendship. I like knowing I'm one of the few who doesn't like Forrest Gump.
amen!

And you didn't like Forrest Gump, Mike? ReallY? I find that...hard to believe. It was a fantastic story, and Hanks was brilliant in it.

I liked Forrest Gump a lot, but did think that Shawshank Redemption should have won best picture that year. (but only because "The Thing" wasn't eligible)

I don't think that's a very fair statement. For one thing, I'm -so- not a Baby Boomer. Secondly, the movie was just good. It's okay that you didn't like it; I just don't understand how anyone can dislike the heart of that story.

But, whatever. There's lots of stuff out there that people watch that makes me want to put my head through a brick wall.

No buddy required. As far as permission goes, just don't say "no."

ok, it was glib. but i think the film as a piece of art is very overrated. i think its appeal rests mostly on Tom Hanks because Everyone Loves to Love Him, and that Everyone Loves to Watch Their Own Story, and "Forrest Gump" is the sentimental, "gee, aren't we amazing creatures?" story of "America," in my opinion, & those (like most of the American novels that win the Pulitzer) are not as effective or substantial as an artistic achievement as they are an uplifting piece of humanistic propaganda.

i'm not saying that every movie should be "Requiem for a Dream," but i didn't really learn anything about human experience from Forrest Gump and will instantly bludgeon to death ANYONE who starts in on all the different kinds of SHRIMP there are. oh god, what agony. My dad loves that joke--
