Cap is one of the best combatants in the 616. Batman himself--the DCU's best combatant--said that it was possible that Cap could beat him.
Make whatever call you'd like, but it doesn't make sense to redefine a character with a pretty well-established pedigree to do it! No offense, dccowen!

I admit nothing! Seriously, you're describing Cap like he's a high school jock who found a magic shield. That's just not who Cap is. He's literally been described by many in the 616 as one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the world. He's defined as having mastered both American boxing and judo, and combining of those to create a formidable personal fighting style. This is backed up not only by those in the 616, but by the best fighter in other universes as well (Batman himself). Add that combat expertise to the protective element of the shield, AND the fact that Steve is the literal pinnacle of human physical strength and speed AND that he doesn't tire, giving him endurance far beyond even well-trained human capacity?
