SIO has managed to produce some really nice results with the stock lens imo. Good job.

It's decent enough, but like Ed said a tripod is a must.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Thanks guys! I know a better lens would be far better but I just want to drain the juice out of the stock lens and see what it offers! Definitely need a tripod especially for dark photos.

What's a good lens for taking action shots of the kids playing indoor basketball or zooming in when they're playing outside. I'm not a perv, just want to document my boys' activities better :-) We got the Rebel Xt last Christmas and need to upgrade the lens. Sorry it's a non statue piccie taking question but I'm baffled by all the data out there.
Cheers,
Dom

All my pics so far have been with a tripod & a remote cord. Do you think they look shaky?

I've got to get a remote shutter release. I am forced to use the 10 sec timer to get my shots. sucks.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of having fixed focul lengths. I've been tempted by the 60mm as it fits right between the two lenses i have (standard 18-55mm and 70-300mm) and so will fill that gap, but wondered whether i should be going for a zoom lens again.
Any tips/advice etc?

Also, I have just purchased a remote cord, and when i set it to "timer/remote cord" in the camera settings, and have Mirror Lockup turned on, i have to double press the release - once to raise the mirror and again to open the shutter. Have I set it up wrong?
