Yes because there's no difference between a sculpture, replicated or not, and a hunk of plastic. No design work, fabrication, engineering that go into it.

And after all that fabrication, design work, and engineering...what does your statue do that a hunk of plastic doesn't. That's what I thought.

Look pretty, have a defined form and likeness, represent a nostalgic fictional character...you know, those things. The things that a cube of plastic can't do.

WHAT DOES IT "DO" ?

Everything you stated was what you see from it when you look at it. "art" is subjective. Maybe I get those same illicit feelings when looking at cube of plastic. But again, what does the statue DO that the pile of resin doesn't?

You might as well quit now. You will not convince me, no matter how hard you try, that these "collectibles" (hah!) are anything more then painted chunks of plastic. That is literally, at their base, all they are.

Do I love my chunk of plastic from Sidehow representing Spiderman....yes I do. Will it do anything for me other then sit on my shelf and be there for me to look at.....no it won't.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize that art had a function. That's like saying a blank canvas and one with a Bob Ross landscape hold the same value because neither have a function.

If you're brain works in such a cold manner maybe collecting really isn't for you.

Cubes remind me of my childhood. The things would never go down the circle holes. I guess circles remind me of my failures and cubes are a symbol of hope.

Are people debating what statues do? Is...is that what I'm reading? Is this conversation actually a thing?
Guys, please. Just enjoy life and save your breath to cool your pies.
