I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Excellent action/thriller with a great ensemble cast.

Gone girl - 9/10

Affleck's acting notwithstanding, this film kept us interested the whole way through.

Into The Woods (2014) - A witch tasks a childless baker and his wife with procuring magical items from classic fairy tales to reverse the curse put on their family tree.

I like musicals, but not this one. 4/10

Mission Impossible 2: 4/10 - I haven't watched this in years but it was on TV tonight so I thought I'd give it another chance. Pretty cringe worthy stuff. Silly story, boring script and ridiculous accents. I actually had some friends who worked on this movie and even spotting their scenes and Sydney locations couldn't save it for me. Shame, because I quite like the franchise.

MI 2 was such a disappointing sequel to the original movie. Then MI 3 was even worse than 2, but thankfully MI 4: Ghost Protocol was really awesome.

Deliver Us From Evil - 7/10

Not bad at all & much better than I thought it would be although it does sort of crumble towards the end. More a gritty NYC cop tale than traditional "scary movie". Bana is great as the cop & the supporting actors were all believable. No cop-out pop-outs which I appreciate, all the spooks were set up & earned. I didn't care for the conclusion & wish the director had gone down a less predictable path, but it did it's job.
Somewhat fresh & fun.

A Walk Among The Tombstones (2014) - 8.5/10

Very good Crime Drama w/ the right notes of sadness, despair, & violence peppered throughout a pretty bleak NYC landscape. Liam Neeson is great in this, playing an AA, former cop turned private detective, Matt Scudder caught up in a real sick case. It feels like a book & makes me want to read some of Lawrence Block's novels. I love crime fiction & feel, even though I haven't read the book, that this feels like a book. Maybe Neeson will do more.

Ironclad (2011) 7/10 -

I've never seen a bloodier, more violent medieval-themed movie than this one. Solomon Kane & Rome's James Purefoy stars as a Knight Templar who with a few other special-forces-type medieval warriors defend a strategically located castle against King John played by Paul Giamatti who wants to renege on his signed Magna Carta. The castle is sieged and the battles defending it are beyond brutal ... but fun. It was entertaining & satisfying, but I doubt I'll ever need to see this one again.

Maleficent (2014) - A vengeful fairy is driven to curse an infant princess, only to discover that the child may be the one person who can restore peace to their troubled land.

I did like how the old Sleeping Beauty fairy tale was turned upside down. 5/10
