That is true, I remember people saying it looked like popcorn among other things, and people were confused about what the beam/structure was actually supposed to be, but most liked the actual figure itself.
Hope your issues was fixed. I’m definitely no stranger to sideshow’s QC issues, they’re frequent enough, but I haven’t heard of or at least don’t remember people having imbalance issues with this one. That sucks.

I'm still really confused about what they were thinking with the base. Even just a beam would have been better than including the weird tiny hook on it. The whole thing just seemed out of scale with Spider-Man.

IMO, the hook was just a way to show motion with the base. With the hook on there, you get the sense that the beam is falling backwards.
The beam is already leaning, so without the hook it would look stationary. Leaning but fixed in place. The hook is sculpted to look like it's being pulled by the beam.

That makes sense, it's just the miniaturized scale of it that really doesn't work for me.

This might be part of Spooktacular's "Second Chance-Back From the Dead" event.
Items launch at random times, so check back often for updates. You may see an item say ‘Sold Out’ now, but it could be available later. (Pro tip – Be sure to subscribe to Sideshow’s channels on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and more and then enable notifications to better the be alerted when items are back in-stock!)
