Sorry to hear that. I hate hearing stories of commissions gone wrong. It's literally robbery. You reach out to a fan favorite artist thinking there would be some appreciation for the attention -- but no, too often it appears like entitled bull.

I was/am referring to Larry Stroman but Liefeld isn't on my list of people I send a Easter card to either.

I had a few bad experiences commissioning artists over the years but Stroman stands out as the least professional artist with the worst attitude of anyone I've ever dealt with.

Totally unapologetic and completely unwilling to do anything to make things right until PayPal got involved.

And, in my mind, the worst part was I was a fan of his when I was a teen and had met him a few times and thought he was a nice guy.

I still own the art but was/am so disgusted with the way the whole transaction went down that I never even bothered to put it in my CAF gallery.

Hello,
It's been 10 months of delays for me so far, Jae is a really nice guy but the wait is too much and it doesn't look like it's going to arrive anytime soon as he's clearly busy lately.
How many of you have received their commission?

Group commissions seem quite risky. The non-productive pattern which often seems to follow appears to suggest that it's a quick cash grab by the artist (i.e., I have 20 spots open at 1k a piece). Once cash is received, some of these artists seem to disappear for a year even though they seem to have promised that the first batch of commissions would be completed by the first month or two. I have found that my most successful commissions to date have taken place on a one on one basis, when I caught the artist when he wasn't doing much at the time. Also, working in that type of dynamic, I get more a more passionate product, more frequent e-mail replies, and most importantly, a quicker finished product. Nowadays, whenever I see a group commissions offer (i.e., I have 20 spots open etc), I could not run away fast enough.
