definitely contact the seller and ask for partial refund due to the damaged box that affects resale. see if the amount is acceptable to you, if not just ask for a full refund including shipping back the item because item is "not as described" or "seller failed to describe condition."

I've heard stories about people buying bishoujos even without their boxes at a price higher than how much it's been sold when it was released.

I guess it depends on how strong the horror line will become. If the horror line would grow to be as strong as the DC line, Freddy and Jason's value might par with that of Catwoman's down the road...

Time can only tell man. How is the figure by the way?
Despite having a damaged box, is it still sealed?

When I got my SUpergirl, her box got a few damages too, but she's still sealed. I'm glad I got her, because since then, SUpergirl's hard to come by...

Some people are really picky about boxes. I think it depends on the figure. If it's something like a Kotobukiya or Hot Toys. Then I think the condition for resale matters to the collector. With Sideshow I think people know that you'll be lucky to get a mint inner art box.

Comicbookguy -

If you asked the seller to ship it properly and they still didn't do it. Then you are due a discount or refund.

I expect all my boxes in good condition.
If I receive a bad one, I will return it.
Boxes have an impact on the value of collectibles.

Oh wow, thanks for all the info. I will email him tonight. Thing is I've also ordered the freddy one as well a few days ago. that one is now on the way. I also put in the PayPal notes. Saying exactly: please pack the item box safely so that it does not get damage from shipping. He never responded but I figure he would know. Heck I sell these sometimes myself and if there's a tiny Mark on the box I would mention it only because I know how some people want mint boxes. I don't need mint but I don't want crush and damage either.
Who knows maybe he's on this site as well. It's the big anime store on ebay who sells tons of these things in Cali. I checked his feedback and I think it comes from his Amazon account when the sale goes through. I will email him for a tiny partial. I can see him getting angry now. I wS planning on buying she hulk and bat woman from him as well. But now I will wait to see how things turn out before I keep buying from him. If he flips out and says no will ebay cover my shipping it back to him for a full refund? I hate to do it but depending on how he replies I may suck it up or return it. The figure is awesome. Hope he responds back nicely either way.
