Seriously. I'm in dire need of a Lee, Garney, Perez, or Byrne influenced classic 1/4 Cap for my collection.

That does not compute.

X-Men 268 is one of my childhood favorites. Great self-contained issue.

The splash page from that issue is a classic. Would love to see this in statue form:

But other than this and a couple of 'Heroes Reborn' covers, Jim Lee didn't do a lot of Cap.

Exactly. I know Lee has drawn Cap, but saying "classic Cap AKA Jim Lee" seems... weird. I know many here have a (generational?) crush on him, but come on, I would have been OK with using him as a mere example of classic Cap costume (you know, "such as Lee"), but "AKA"...

There are many, many other artists I would have instantly associated with that look instead. I've said it before, Lee started drawing only in the late 80's, guys. There's a lot of 'classic classic' before that.

Yeah, Zeck, Byrne, or Perez are "classic Cap".

i agree with you, i think a lot of people associate their ideal character aesthetic with lees work though regardless of how many times he drew them. you never hear someone say "id love a kubert wolverine statue"

....but for the record i would

Kirby, Steranko more like it for classic. Those I'd say are more modern.

True, and I probably would've said that a decade ago, but I think we're at a point now where late 1970s-1980s has reached "classic" status. Certainly, for the demographic that collects statues that's probably the most identifiable era. It's hard for me to call something 30 years old "modern" at this point, but I recognize that's a newer era as far as the vintage comic world.
