Yep, pleather flakes and fabric could rot after a while. Probably not a concern for most collectors if they don't keep their statues 10 years.

I started a post on facebook to gather how bad it is....
Rong shared this from his Lobo PF.
Spend over $600 to have something that looks fantastic for 4 years.

That's the problem...a lot of us will keep them for over 10 years. Even if we don't we'd just be passing on the problem to someone else.

Lobo maquette, Rogue maquette....are we buying these to only display for 5-10 years?

Tbh I'd probably avoid all MM statues if I lived in an area with similar climate. I know it sucks but SS thinks it's a great idea apparently like that new Logan

The pants should be fine. The belt is the problem.

Was not Sideshow's motto once "Collect for Life."? LOL
I still have the free hat.

My Indy went t o hell, so have to get a custom actual leather jacket made. My Bats and Lobo are OK so far but will take care to not touch them much going forward. I wonder if there is a treatment for pleather stuff? I know that Aerospace 303 works on rubber to keep it from cracking and drying out. Hot Toys have not been immune to problems.

???......

We may have a maintenance issue on such materials to help them hold up.

Post this on Sideshows official facebook group, "Let your Geek Sideshow". Plenty of Sideshow reps and artists lurking in there. Youre more than likely going to be heard there, rather than falling on deaf ears here.

We can gripe about mixed medium but fully sculpted aren’t perfect either. Sometimes you get paint cracks or paint chips. There is no win win here.

It's not mixed media, its just that cheap pleather stuff. I'll take mixed media over fully sculpted any day, but that particular material is junk wherever it's used. The real leather on my old PFs from 10-15 years ago looks as good as new.
