If you have any knowledge of mainstream comic art from the past 50 years, you know his name. If you understand storytelling, anatomy and movement, you are a fan.
If you've been fortunate and persistent, you may have some of his original art already in your collection. It's possible that you haven't had the opportunity to pounce on a piece yet or maybe you are looking to add more (I mean, who can honestly have enough of Jose's original art?).
Beginning very soon, is a first time opportunity.
Jose has pulled some pages out of his own personal collection, that have previously not been available to, or even seen by, the public.
The pieces of original art- being offered up span the nearly the entire length of his career at DC Comics, which begin in 1974.
Heritage Auctions is featuring a collection of artwork, going to auction, "from the personal collection of Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez", beginning next month, August, and running through October. The link of just a few pieces have already been posted as previews, minus the special notation or publicity that is forthcoming, as time gets closer.-
Whether you are a fan of those pesky, hard-to-find Jonah Hex pages, The Justice League of America, Superman, Wonder Woman, or any of the other DC characters that he has likely drawn, you will find something here. Covers, splashes, panel pages, licensing work, and even a few copies of the original hard-to-find published DC Style Guides, as well as some even more difficult to find specialized style guides will be available to bid on and coming soon!
Bid on these, knowing that they came directly from the master's art studio and are still minty fresh for public consumption!
