I believe it's a marketing thing. There is a HUGE chunk of fans out there who'll pay money just to see Pattinson in a popular flick. I don't doubt his acting chops, I doubt that's the reason he was cast.

Warner is just looking to ensure butts in seats. Other actors who command that kind of star power are either too old, or too expensive, or would be an even worse fit that Pattinson.

It's a calculated move. I don't like it, but I can see that they seem to think they know what they're doing.

Do you guys think Nicholas Hoult would be that much better? Because that is who RP beat out in casting. IMO they look the same and have the same acting depth. So let's not try to make it seem like this casting was out of left field for WB -- it's exactly the type they were looking for.

It's very much a wait and see game. I'm willing to give him a shot. All I hope is that we do NOT have to sit through another "origin" story. Just be Batman. Next.

NH is hands down better looking. And therefore if acting chops are the same, NH should have been chosen. RP is a modern day Cro-Magnon Man.

I think, just by the roles he's chosen, and by his over-all look he would be better. I also think Armie Hammer, who is only 31 to RP's 33, and has a varied filmography and the physicallity would be better than both.

Still blows my mind they didn’t pick Armie Hammer. Tells me they were more interested in a name to draw people in than someone who actually looked the part.
