Supposedly they were going to offer both heads and just decided to cut one. I wonder how many of these things actually sold.

What the huh? I thought that was a rumor we all started to entice SS to do it because then more would PO? Not that SS ever was actually going to do that?

Makes the whole thing more comical if that was ever the case and SS decided to kick the pretty lady to the curb.

Well, they probably wouldn't have changed it had it not been for the initial complaints. I miss the days pre-social media where companies just pushed something out. Customers either bought it, or the product failed and the managers learned to improve. Now every business wants reviews, likes, online sharing, tweets, pokes, bleeps, blops, and whatever-the-f else.

As long as regulations are in place to prevent companies from ripping off the consumer, they should just finish a project as planned. We made the mess, but they made it worse by listening to us... So I'm still going to blame it on Sideshow haha.

Ss would never listen to the buyers on changing the head. No chance that would happen.Wasn’t it said that it was marvel who didn’t approve of her portrait? The demanded a Asian look for the character. So ss just rushed the original portrait and revised it instead of sculpting a new portrait which is more time and money.

No. That's highly unlikely. Disney's acquisition of Fox was only recently finalized, and any ongoing projects were given a minimum of a few years to come to fruition. This change was done several months ago, and the X-Men were still property of Fox. Any on-going licensing deals and contacts are still being carried out by Fox during the transition. Disney may now own Fox and all of it's IPs, but Fox still has its own projects (pre-Disney) that it will complete. Anything in development or pre-production after the merger is fair game for them to cancel.

See X-MEN Dark Phoenix. Disney will be absorbing all profits from the film, but reshoots were still carried out under the team initially working for 20th Century Fox. Disney may make suggestions though.

Fox only owned the X-Men movie license. Marvel (Disney) has always been in charge of comic license approvals.

Really? So it was only the movie likenesses of the X-Men characters that Fox owned? Then I'm assuming Disney (Marvel) owned their comic likenesses? So what about all of the merchandise and video games? Marvel never should have fractured itself like that. What a mess. But I guess if they didn't, Marvel might have tanked.

I think what Comicbookguy was alluding to is there is always a producer and/or art director on the Marvel side making the call to make changes regardless of what entity owned Marvel at that time. This is consistent with any licensed product and SS (or any licensee for that matter) will be accountable to how a product will look based on that feedback by the license owner/client. At the end of the day what you see has been seen and approved by the licensor.

Seeing all those head iterations really reeks of a producer or AD requesting those changes based on how they want the product to look based on the property. The sculptor will have some leeway but is for the most part directed on the overall look desired by the client, in this case its SS and Marvel they have to cater to.

It may look bad but I'll guarantee you this is not because of what that artist/sculptor wanted. All I know is I would not spend a penny on this based on how that head looks. Your money will ultimately do the talking.
