MY FIRST COMIC -- VINTAGE MARVEL ART

Here is my first comic book -- Marvel Treasury #13 -- yes, this is the actual copy of the 1st comic I was ever given.

Note the tremendous coloring job I did.

The book was a reprint issue with a twist -- new art/storyline was used to introduce each reprint.

A few years back, I had an opportunity to buy the cover to this issue. Listed at $18,000, I was able to negotiate it down to either $12,000 or $13,000 which was still too rich for me.

So I settled on a Fred Hembeck redo that I got as a Christmas gift for my son.

Well, this page came up for auction and I was able to acquire it.

What do you charge for this calibre of commission work?

If you have to ask how much an original Vuk color commission, you can't afford it.

That's what I thought too... but this is his early work, before the glasses. He colors inside the lines now and uses more than 3 colors.

Congrats Bill - glad that a page from this issue landed with you. Who knows, maybe to cover will end up with it one day as well.

$700. But I am running a $400 special if you just want to be on my list that entitles you to 3 yearly emails of excuses as to why your commission is not done.
