Detective Comics Collectibles

Eyeing purchasing the Wonder Woman Adam Hughes 12” statue except I kinda want her to be accompanied by his other works as well. Like I have a row of 4 of his Sideshow Marvel Comiquettes. I’d hate for Wonder Woman to be all by her lonesome.

Anyone know whether there are any hints that DC will supersize his other works from the DC Covergirls series? Those are all awesome!

Prolly not, WW has sold so poorly that Diamond is almost giving her away for free to retailers.

Forgive my ignorance, is Diamond the same as Diamond Select. Does Diamond (or Diamond Select) own DC Collectibles?

No, Diamond is a middle-man distributor. DC gives its products to Diamond, and Diamond sends the stuff to comics shops.

Diamond also makes its own statues and toys.

I don't see DC doing Cover Girls at 1/5 but a Hughes Artist Series line from Sideshow would be a good idea.

I thought they were called Diamond Select. Just Diamond then. I do like their 12” resin Psylocke even with its less than perfect paint job.

Weren’t the DC cover girls very popular? Why do you think Wonder Woman didn’t sell well?

I don’t want them in PVC. I want them in 12” or sorta 1/6 resin scale just like the re-released Adam Hughes larger Wonder Woman one.

Yes, Diamond owns Diamond Select Toys.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_Select_Toys

Re-releases tend to sell slowly. DC's usual ES of 5000 is already pretty large, and when you make another run of the same statue (even if it's a different size), only die-hards get both. Same thing happened to Batgirl. It's now selling for $60, half off MSRP. That's cheaper than the B&W version, which ironically is much smaller.

Sales of the Adam Hughes statue were also hurt by the Frank Cho version being announced before the Hughes was even released. Everyone went crazy for the Cho statue, and it's now sold for double or triple MSRP on the secondary market.

I would have thought the AH Harley would have made the jump to the larger size, but there are already a ton of Harley statues. Doubt any of the other AH covergirls would sell any better.
