Totally solid sci-fi/fantasy film. It does buckle at times under the weight of its own more outlandish core concepts but it was ultimately thoroughly enjoyable and well worth the watch.

Normally I don't let poor reviews determine if I see a film theatrically but let's face it, films based on video games don't exactly have the strongest track record. With that I had decided to wait on this despite wanting to see it but your review has me doing a 180 again as that's more or less what I'd expect from this.

La La Land (2016) - A jazz pianist falls for an aspiring actress in Los Angeles.
It started off with a bang and I thought, “Wow, this movie is going to be amazing!” And it ended with a bang too—I loved the ending actually. The middle was a more conventional movie than I expected and I would have preferred even more musical numbers throughout. Having said all that, it’s still an excellent tribute to classic Hollywood musicals. 9/10

Rogue one (second viewing) 9/10
Still think it's my favorite Star Wars movie.

I liked it for what it was. And damn that movie gets gory. I was watching it late last night (couldn't sleep) and I don't know what the hell I was thinking.

Cool. Honestly I really enjoyed it and would happily see it again. If you played the games your experience is enhanced but it is certainly not mandatory. It's no Rogue One but it's not Warcraft either
