This guy has skill. Love the old school WIP instead of digital sculpt.

Great job, Newman.
I really hope Sideshow would do some animation. I would love to see Poxxil in motion. I am thinking similar to a velociraptor, but more agile.

I immediately thought the same thing.
This looks like a big 'ol rip off of their design.

Rip off is incorrect! Inspired is accurate. Or more accurate. There are tons of different things that differentiate itself from Dark Crystal.

I do not see a "rip-off" of the Skeksis, which would imply a carbon copy of their design, and I'm not entirely certain it was an inspiration. Surely a good question to ask the creative team in the future.
I see a twisted version of a Plague Doctor, as majestic1 alluded to.

Dechirico there is very little "new" creation now-a-days. I see a definite inspirational draw from the skesis

I think it's a lot closer to a flightless Harpy. Rip-off? Hunched over bird-like humanoids existed long before Dark Crystal. If that is somebody's basis for all things bird and fantasy, I encourage them to read more. Besides, Skeksis were more reptilian in design.

I did not think about a Harpy because its a winged female monster, but since you mentioned it, I can see it myself.
Again, we'll need to ask the creative team the question on how they came up with its design.

Would definitely never call it a rip off, but it does seem to have some heavy influences from the Dark Crystal...which I just love.
Overall...a very interesting piece.

Can you really design any character now days that won't draw from another? I think the hunched design definitely draws from Dark Crystal. But there are other ideas mixed in. That is why I like the COTD line. The characters are a mix of unexpected details.
