Bishoujo Statue: Anime

I saw an artwork of Attack on Titan's Mikasa on the net,
and she looked like a bishoujo, and thought, why not?

Then, I remembered these Evangelion figures that was based on Shunya's art.
Those were made by a company named Yamato.
I don't own any Yamato figures,
and I didn't quite appreciate those figures when they came out.
But now that I'm collecting bishoujos,
the idea sounds kind of cool.

Any anime fans in here
who would like to see Shunya have his take on yer favorite female anime characters
and be made into a Kotobukiya bishoujo statue?

Who'd you like to see?

I could think of Mikasa and Krista Lenz at the moment.

A Motoko Kusanagi bishoujo would make me happy.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

So, so many..

-Faye Valentine
-Fuu
-Yoko Littner (although she, too, was apart of the Yamato line IIRC)
-Just about any female character from Soul Eater
-Asuna Yuuki
-Motoko
-Sakura and Hinata, despite not being much of a Naruto fan

Among others.

As much as I'd love to see Shunya's take on all of the AoT/SnK girls, I'd only be up for it if they were done in similar vein to Mara and Jaina from Koto's Star Wars line, sexy but not overtly so (much like the picture you posted; nice find). The show/manga doesn't sexualize those characters, so it wouldn't feel right to see them completely Shunya'd out.

Same deal for Android 18 from DBZ.

Those. And I would add Bulma, Korra and Sharon Apple. Also I'd like to see the Kill la Kill girls done as bishoujo.

They already make a ton of PVC anime figures. Why would they do anime bishoujos?

Because the bishoujo line has gained crossover appeal that those other anime figures probably never will. The key to that, I believe, is the character selection. Koto, and many other companies have been making anime figures for a long time. But the use of Western characters opens that market to a wider audience. So I don't think you could pick any anime character, give them the typical bishoujo treatment, and expect it to be successful. It would have to be a character with Western appeal such as Bulma or The Major. Plus Shunya is amazing.

For the same reason Sidehow consistently sells any and every version of Hulk to the same demographic over, and over again. People like seeing different interpretations of their favorite characters.

I do generally agree with your post though. A lot of the characters on my list haven't even been given the proper treatment yet, and I'd likely be happier with traditional figures in that regard. For girls like Mikasa that have been thoroughly covered, however, it would be refreshing to see something outside the norm like a bishoujo. Those Yamato pieces were pretty well received among the anime community, so I can only imagine that anything Koto put out would be met with similar praise.

Since I don't watch Anime, I have no interest in collecting Anime Bishoujos... If I don't know who the character is I'm just not going to buy it. I think this true with most Bishoujo collectors and that is why Koto sticks with well know comic book/movie/video game characters.

I like to think that many people with an interest in popular culture have at least watched Ghost in the Shell.
