4k UHD Blu Ray
Just curious to see if anyone's making that step up to 4k soon. I just noticed that the 4k blu rays are going to start coming out next month.
I have a 4k set so, I'll check it out of course.

I'll be waiting for another year or so but I absolutely will be taking that next step. Happy to hear 4k Blu-ray is coming out soon.

I'll probably wait, but I do want Fury Road in 4k.
I've done that early adopter crap for one format already.

I don't have a 4k TV, nor do I plan on getting one anytime soon, but I keep telling myself that Blu-Ray is the last physical media I will invest in. That's what I keep telling myself.

do you need a special bluray player to play 4k blurays?
I got a 4K tv when I moved into my new place in april of last year, so ill definitely give this a shot, might as well if I have the tv already anyway
there are some 4k blurays out now but I dont think those are true 4k, I think they were just 4k "mastered" sony made some, I have spider-man 1-3 in the 4k "mastered" bluray but it didnt blow me away

I think newer films will show the 4k difference more since they were likely filmed or prepped for a higher format.

Yes, you will need a UHD player. The new format is referred to as UHD I believe and the cases are black as opposed to Blue on the BR cases.
Here is a list of the first available movies:

I have a Samsung 65" curved 4K in our family room and a 65" flat 4K in the mancave. They have an up scaling feature that makes even bluray look fantastic. Can't wait to see a 4K content BD or streaming.
