1. Only DC
2. Only 1/3 from P1
3. Maybe some 1/6

Already failed both with the XM Mystique.

No more.

A) No room for boxes
B) Don't want to have to move too much if we move again in 1-2 years, which is likely.
C) Wife might kill me.

Exceptions: What I can get with current SS rewards/credit and the Blue Royo Batman my mom preordered for me for Christmas.

Ones I will be sad to miss: Tweeterhead Blue Batman, SS Batgirl PF, Tweeterhead Batgirl, SS Freeze PF...

1) What I like
2) What I can fit
3) What I can afford

Of course those are my rules for every year, not just 2019. I guess for me it's good that #1 is always limited to a really low # of characters. And that is to say I "like" Nightwing, but I'd never buy a statue of him.

1. Try to just stick with only my favorite comics characters and mostly in 1/4 scale from Sideshow.

2. Do not accept anymore subpar piece or even good statue with little flaw(s), which was something acceptable a few years ago but not anymore at today's 600$ price range for basic statues.

3. Try to wait for the in hand pics before pulling the trigger when it is possible financially (QC issues on production pieces), if it's not, at least continue to wait for an official determined ES before placing my order, except for my "grails" that I want to support like Domino and Cable (if it turns out great of course ).

4. Stop Hot Toys figures... last year they tricked me into buying the adorable life-size Groot, and the amazing Yondu and IW Doctor Strange but this year I will be strong !

5. If I can finally get on preorder this year Rogue (if Sideshow managed to reassure me on all this maquette stability issue), Domino, amazing PFs of Cable and Gambit, I'll feel satisfied enough with my collection and my rule for 2020 could be to get out of this expensive hobby with one exception or two from time to time for ONLY exceptional pieces.

Just saw UPS raised shipping rates again this year. So, I guess rule 0, is buy to keep.

1a. Fully sculpted, no exceptions.
1b. 1/4 scale as much as possible. Obviously, if a statue I like enough is only available in 1/3, I'll break from this.
2. Pose and design concept are as important as the sculpt and paint. So, even if execution is top-notch, I don't want it if something looks off in the artist's unpainted 3D render.
3. No more extra emphasis placed on the more obscure characters, if I'm unhappy with rule #2. Fear of missing out has pushed me to buy statues I ultimately wasn't happy with at the concept stage. So yeah I'd rather have three good Batmans or Supermans over a C-lister from Mortal Kombat that has some design choice I don't like.
4. Emotional impact. While I intend for 1/4 scale statues to "interact" with one another, each statue needs to stand on its own, tell its story through an expertly made portrait(fully painted eyes, no decals like PCS), pose, and a nice, big, detailed environmental base.
5. It's okay to enjoy statues from a distance. Ownership is for curation, and part of the fun is that not everything will make the cut.

Nice! This is my favorite so far in this thread. I copied this list so I can refer to it myself over the next year or two. I like the idea of each one having to stand on its own and not just being something to fill out a collection. I have trouble with doing that.

I agree. But regarding hobbies, rules are made to be at least mocked. And possibly ignored. Where would the pleasure be otherwise?
