GUNS: What kind do you have?

Thought I would start a gun thread. I know there are a few fellas here that have/and/or collect them. I collect them and I do a lot more target shooting than actual hunting. A lot of fellas in my current area are big deer hunters but I find that to be pretty boring. I like something that has an element of danger or skill. Wild boar, squirrel, ducks. Feel free to add yours. I'll start off with my most recent purchase. A Mossberg .308

Pretty basic as far as rifles go but it was pretty cheap and I wanted to try hunting wild boar with a .308 as opposed to a 30-06. They both work well but I think I like the .308 better. For boar hunting anyway. (This is just a stock photo, I'll leave out real pics of my guns for now.)

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Great thread idea! I don't hunt but I love target shooting. I also enjoy buying the actual guns that are used for sci-fi movies that are a bit different looking from your normal ones.

My current target shooter is a 6.5 Creedmoor chambered Ruger Precision Rifle. I have done several mods to it (Stock, grip, trigger, bolt handle, etc...) and I hit very consistently at 1000 yards. A couple of my range friends and I are going to the 1760 yard (1 mile) range a couple hours away this spring to stretch out the legs of our rifles.

My sci-fi related guns are an FNH PS90 set up to look like the ones used in Stargate, an IWI X95 Tavor set up like the ones they used in Killjoys and a Beretta CX4 Storm set up like the ones in Battlestar Galactica. I also have a couple of sidearms that were used in various movies and shows that caught my eye. A Chiappa Rhino 6" revolver and an FNH Five-Seven handgun.

I was more of a gun collector than practical shooter for most of the 1990's. Unfortunately, my tastes ran more along the modern tactical lines so most of what I really wanted was out of reach.

Also, I went through a major depression in 2008 and at one point decided readily accessible firearms might not be so smart and surrendered my entire collection to local police. That was a story unto itself. http://www.statueforum.com/showthrea...highlight=guns

Still remain a gun guy at heart and like to keep informed.

I had a few, now impossible to purchase, guns in my possession.

Glock 17 9mm, Gen 1
Smith & Wesson 686, .357 Mag, 4-inch barrel
Llama 45ACP (Spanish 1911)
Ruger 10/22, .22LR
Benelli M3, Super 90, 12 gauge (a real beauty)
Mossberg 500 bullpup, 12 gauge (clunky as hell, but still a interesting shotgun for the time)
GIAT MAS-SA (semi auto version of the French FA-Mas service rifle), 5.56mm
Steyr AUG-SA (semi auto version of the Austrian service rifle)
Heckler & Koch M93, 5.56mm

That's about it, but when I consider these were purchased in a span of about 3 years, it was a lot. These days "Airsoft" fills my collection needs and I still get to shoot on the job.

My only pic (poor quality at that) of any of my old firearms.

I have two dogs names after guns....Ruger and Beretta (the Blonde, first of her name)...

We do have some hand guns though. I don't know the names, my husband does though because his family collects them and target shoots.

Oops, sideways photos

Wonderful thread H!
Can't go wrong with a Mossberg shotgun. That's partly the reason I bought a .308 from them. I used to have a Colt 1911 then sold it like a dumb@$$. Wish I still had it. Jesse James has some done some hellacious 1911 customs.
