I think at this point i'm just going to wait for things like this to show in the UK.

My Guyver 3 was £230 shipping and £270 import fee's and i just can't keep up with PO's at those costs. Even worse now the £ is so weak, i'm happy i paid off my Guyver 3 and Gurren Lagann a while ago when the pound had more clout.

Especially it seems Prime 1 stuff doesn't hold it's value and you end up seeing people selling them well below retail so soon...with so many Preds coming out i just imagine a few of them are going to be knocking around on ebay for a lot less.

Did you get it direct from Prime 1 or Sideshow?

What harmonised code did they use?

From Sideshow.

No idea what the code is yet ( still waiting for it to be delivered ) but i haven't paid 20% from Sideshow for about 4 years, all my Prime 1 pieces up to this point have been at 5% through DHL.

This was 20% and another £60 duty on top. I think the days of paying 5% custom charges are truly over now.

I’ve found a way round it. No import tax or very low tax depends how you declare it.

And what way is that then? Also how do you influence how they declare it?

They went about 8 years ago for me, I've always been charged 20% via SSC & Fed Ex, how are you guys paying 5 still?

I requested all my shipments through DHL and they always did 5%.

So i've had a bunch of SS and P1 pieces through and never paid over £70 import fees.

My friend the same too, he just got his Logan through from SS and paid £150 import fees ( his Ironaman Maquette before that was £27 import fees ) and i got my Guyver 3 today and i paid £270 fees ( 197 vat/60 duty)

I think DHL shipping is always more expensive too but obviously that was offset with the fees, but now i guess i'll ask them to just ship whichever is the cheapest...

In December 2019 I purchased the Prime 1 Dog Alien through Sideshow who have started using a new code (statue made of Plastic) which luckily got through DHL customs at 5%. I then received the Prime 1 Catwoman through sideshow again shipped DHL but this time they got the correct charge based on the harmonized code used and I was charged at the correct 26% rate.

I enquired with Sideshow the reason for the code change and was informed the new code met the item description better.

DHL are now aware to charge at the 26% rate

It’s simple to ‘influence’ the value as you put it.

You just remove the paperwork and Its job done.
