Just one page back someone was arguing to me that he shift from colorful, less practical costumes to drab, "realistic" designs was not a product of PC pandering.

NRS has been neutered by the crybaby climate. I hope we get the true MK back sometime in the future. But compromise is the antithesis of the franchise, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

Oh give me a break. The MK9 costumes were straight up trash - Mileena had a costume where she was literally naked except for a few bandages on her privates. Sheeva was wearing a g-string thong bikini. I'm glad they did away with them, because, frankly they were awful. And if you say that is how Mortal Kombat has always been, you'd be wrong. I've been playing Mortal Kombat since the original trilogy was in the arcades and on the old consoles, and none of the females looked that skanky. In fact, a lot of the klassic female skins from MK2 and UMK3 are in MK11.
