Compresser help?

What is a good compresser?

I know its hould be oil free and as silent as possible.

Other than that, what should the spec's be on a compresser?

What is psi?

What is bar?

Do I need to put the compresser in an electrical conduit, or does the compresser somehow run on its own?

I have a hard time figuring all this out?

Danish forum's just refers to a guide where you can make your own compresser with a motor from a refridgerator and other compressors with no real detail to it.

I appreciate any info on I can get.

I would take a look at some of the compressors over at Dixie Art. The Iwata Sprintjet or Smartjet should be what you're looking for. I've heard good things about them. Also check out the Badger inventory. Make sure you get a regulator and a water trap. Most of these come w/both.

Specs would all depend on how much spraying you're going to do. If you plan on occasional spraying, I would say you don't need an airtank to come w/ the compressor. If you intend to spray a lot, a compressor/tank combo helps keep the compressor running longer.

PSI- Pounds per Square Inch. It's the setting you will use to push an amt. of air through your airbrush. Usually anywhere from 15-25psi.

Bar - You got me on that one...

The compressor will indeed need an electrical outlet. Since it appears you are overseas, make sure the compressor will run on your power grid. (i.e. 110 vs 220)

You can use various sources for air (compressed air can, C02 cannister, etc...) but unless you know what you're doing, a compressor will be easier for you. If you have access to a C02 cannister, that's not a bad choice either. You will occasionally need to refill it, and will need to install a regulator for it.

Hope that helps!

hmmm, is it bad to use my DeWalt compressor? That's what I've been using.

I was told the bigger commercial compressors aren't as consistant with the air flow, they tend to surge and the air doesn't come out as smoothly.

I have some info on bar.

Bar is air pressure.

There is a danish online store that has a compressor that has an air pressure on 2.0 bar.
