I'm sooo glad they are sticking with the TV continuity for this new series. Plus it looks like they are finally doing what I've always hoped they'd do, make an anthology series.

"UPDATE! A trusted source has chimed in and told me that it looks like the show will be a seasonal anthology, which means the first season will be set post-Undiscovered Country. After that the entire Star Trek universe is potentially open."

Initially but then I'm sure you'll be able to see it on Netflix and Bluray/DVD eventually. Other than the first episode it won't be show on the TV networks though. At least that's the plan for now.

It got my heart fluttering. Wondering if I have CBS On-Demand in my cable package, will I get this or is it just on some BS downloadable platform?

The first episode will be shown on CBS, but to get the rest of the series you need to subscribe to the new CBS streaming service. They are using the new series to launch the service. It's something along the lines of Hulu or Netflix from what I understand.
