I disagree. Sideshow has raised their game in just about every manner possible in my book. I just can't see them coming to the decison that this is ok and nothing will be done about it, not at these price levels. And offering people a small refund isn't a fix in my book. If I wind up being wrong, I will be extremely disappointed in Sideshow.
I do have a friend that is an archivist that has quite a bit of expereince now. She might be able to offer some advice depending on what the material is and what type of dyes were used. If Sideshow does wind up screwing people, this would be a great way to make some money for people that make various replacement parts available for statues.

If it comes out the fabric wasn't dyed correctly would be my guess, or it was a light purple fabric and the factory just dyed it darker to save money and its bleeding.
Someone told me while back these fabrics are not cotton, they are made from plastic recycled bottles so they are really plastic which dye never sticks too.

I recall the "fabric" being some kind of PET derivative that is then mixed with polyester and treated with a softener chemical to create a fabric look/feel. I mean I guess it's cheaper somehow than just buying a roll of fabric?

If anyone wants to post their pics of the problem in the video's comments section, please feel free.
:edit: I just posted a link to this thread there. Maybe that works just as well.

Even tho I havent recieve mine yet, I just wrote Sideshow a pretty long email expressing how important I think it is that they fix this issue in a proper manner and not just issue a BS partial refund. It certainly can't hurt.
