Anyone else think Kirby would be pissed as to what's going on with his characters @ DC & Marvel?
DC killing off the New Gods
Marvel's anti-smoking policy

I think he would be so disappointed with how dark comics in general have become and how little the companies respect the characters and fans.

If Kirby were still alive, the original art community wouldn't be what it is today. His death caused such a stir and wake-up call in the community, it all but launched the astounding and seemingly incessant rise in prices.
I wouldn't want the King writing or pencilling. It would, however, have been nice if he were able to share the ten million dollar checks per Marvel movie released with Stan.

He was great for his time but aside from maybe Kamandi, his art would seem VERY dated today, unless he had a great inker to update his work.

I totally agree. Kirby comics were just so much damn fun. Innocent yet pretty hard-core Sci-Fi themes were tackled. I think we've travled in a completely different direction. I don't think he'd appreciate where comics have come. The fun's gone. Serious is the name of the game nowadays.

i don't think so... The Guy created the Apokolips, Darkseid. Sick characters like Dessad and Granny Goodness. Kirby had a taste for dark but he didn't have a audience for it back then. He would be happy now.
