The lesson learned was HYPE can have a negative effect and back fire.

Or don't hype it if you can't deliver. That's another very important lesson.

I really don't think SS were expecting this response which has been for the main part negative. While I don't hate the piece as much as others seem to I'm not in love with the piece either. I do like the anatomy and think it more realistic. I just think that the composition and art direction was uninspired when compared to previous releases.

Video where they show off Thanos on Throne for the first time they have a Magneto helmet to tease it. Harbottle says "What's that doing there" or something to that affect.

So in a sense this piece tagged along the Thanos on Throne hype train.

Magneto being a A-Class character the X-Men's most famous and biggest enemy first appearance in X-Men #1 kinda makes any statue of him a big deal. At least for us X-Men fans!

Tac onto all that, Harbottle was the sculpture and it only heighten the allure of the piece.

It all seemed to be a little to much at the end and kinda backed fired on SSC sadly because we all lost out on a epic piece we were expecting to see at SDCC.

I for one thought SSC was going to create a masterpiece that would be released like Thanos on Throne, a low ES for the EX and a bunch of regulars and be priced some what high and that was going to be the norm for these crazy hyped up pieces that delivered like Thanos. This was to be a new formula for SSC to do and it worked at first but the second attempt doesn't seem will work out. Maybe a third attempt will be success.
