If you mean better than the ROTF piece, it's subjective. I own ROTF, Galvatron, Last Knight and eventually this. 3D printing, materials and paint app I would say DOTM. I prefer his design from ROTF more because he looks like a beefcake but that's just me. His face design is just godly.

That said. ROTF was P1's first piece. It still stands up today. There were issues with paint drip and the rust effect didn't pop as some had hoped. Galvatron is a favorite of mine. The machinework with all the pipes and tubes is something to behold and Last Knight is the closest in design to the old guard Transformers. I can also tell P1 cut corners with that piece to make it easier to assemble. I own these Megatron pieces because of the designs. The amount of work they put into them is astounding. I find new things every time I look at them.

I mean that's a matter of taste but in general the design the OG one used isn't that well liked and personally I think this one is pretty cool.

Did they ever say they will be making Optimus and Megatron from the first Bay film?

Also is it better ordering thru P1 to save $40 or so on shipping or stateside? Wondering if there are issues, which would be more helpful, direct customer service thru P1 or a distributor

They have not said or shown any indication that they would do Optimus or Megatron from the first movie. Don't rule it out though. I never expected them to do a ROTF Optimus and it's been almost 5 years since they teased DOTM Megatron. Blackout reveal was out of left field. I would have preferred Soundwave but shows they are still interested in continuing this line. So seeing those 2 is not out of the question.

Your second question is subjective. I live in the US and have ordered through P1 store and it was a disaster. I had to return the AK Joker 3 times and still never received a decent one. I had to use SS to acquire it. That said their customer service was top notch. It's just a matter of waiting on a good piece. Pre-covid you were looking at a 2-3 week turnaround of getting the piece, complaining to P1, getting a response and them taking it back and shipping a new one. This was also before covid spiked all the shipping costs overseas. This was my experience and it wouldn't turn me off from buying directly from them again. They remind me of a slower SS. Others have had great experiences so the millage will vary on this.

If you want this piece but don't want to use P1 you have a few options:
