Good question!
I take my son to Six Flags and he has no idea who Bugs Bunny and the other characters are. For that matter he won't know Woody Woodpecker, Popeye, Heckle & Jeckyl, Droopy, Casper, Chilly Willy, Magilla Gorilla, or any of the others ones I enjoyed as a kid.

cartoon network sucks nowadays as well. I used to watch it religiously about 7 years ago when I was in college.

Pat I think thats your fault...
My girls 4 and 6 watch Bugs and Daffy with me on Boomerang, and this past weekend they were watching a dvd that my dad had with Popeye and Felix the Cat cartoons on it.
Yes they also like Baby Looney Tunes and, Krypto the Superdog, Ben 10, Teen Titans, and yes Tom and Jerry(old and new). But its what you subject them too.
If you want your kids to know good cartoons...get them some!!!
I have 2 of the Classic LooneyTunes Golden Collection dvd box sets and my kids love them...

the answer should be obvious - money. Cartoons are generally targeted to those who have little if any spending power. Thus advertisers do not want to pay for advertisements. That results in the programs being replaced. And what replaced many saturday morning cartoons? The ultimate in commercials - infomercial shows.
