I know that it's pronounced "Darkside" but it bugs me because it's just wrong.
Would you pronounce reid as "ride" - no, it's "reed". Is the Indian holiday Eid "eed" or "ide"?
Grrr!

Pronunciation is messed up all over the English language--this is nothing new!
And "eid" is pronounced "ide" in a number of words; fried, cried, lied, eiderdown, etc.
It's the number one rule of English: it's that way just because.

In German, you would, and I normally default to that rule when I see the "ei" (long I) or "ie" (long E) pairing in a word/name I don't recognize. Based on that, I've always pronounced it "Dark-side".

I pronounce it as "see-tto-rak".

Fried, cried and lied are "ied" not "eid", but I'll give you eiderdown.

That's how I would say it - not saying I am right - just how I would think it's pronounced.

ah-par-tide, kah-lie-doe-scope, and eye-deh-tick (well, that's how I pronounce eidetic, anyways)
