How did Iron Studios get the 1/4 scale Marvel license?

Yes they do. The way these licenses work is so weird, I have no idea what Marv. License I.A. had
Star Wars it like this also
IS SA. 1/4
XM Asia 1/4
SSC worldwide EX. 1/4

And if it wasn't for Sideshow acting as a worldwide distributor for Iron Studios 1/4 scale pieces, I would guess Iron Studios would be locked out of most of our markets.

Agreed. Everyone knows that the main thing comic book fans want is comic book accuracy. Not a fan of putting a spin on things.

I honestly don't mind when Sideshow adds a bit of piping and changes to costume textures, so that it breaks it up a bit. XM pretty much does the same thing to various degrees. Imo some are great, but others they can go too far with the updates.

I hate Alex Ross's art so having it in statue form is like someone kicking me in the nuts.

I actually enjoy the "Sideshow Spin" with characters that are done often...such as Spidey, Wolvie, Hulk and Batman. I do have a problem with SS deciding to go full out with their own style with pieces like Lion-O. That's a flagship piece of a niche line (where the creation of future pieces can depend on the success of those very pieces). It just seems asinine to me to take so many liberties with a piece that has yet to have a classic version produced by SS. In my humble opinion, in situations like that I don't believe it's hyperbole to say that SS is inadvertently sabotaging the very success of those lines with poor decisions like that.

Again... -1 on locking down character licenses... I find it annoying...
