Can Iron Man ever recover?

This Civil War thing is cool (most of the time), but I just wonder:

Can Iron Man ever recover from this, and find his way BACK to being an admired and loved character? I don't know, he's been a major tool through this whole Civil War thing...

What would it take for him to become a hero in the minds of the reader again?

I think Iron man will recover sooner than Quesada and company... I'm still secretly hoping there is some kind of force compelling these characters to behave so out of character...

Given how fervently Spidey has been protecting his identity all these years... to suddenly unmask himself after one conversation with Tony just sounds out of whack to me.

There is a missing piece to this puzzle and it has to be Loki... I don't know how but this all smells like the Lord Of Mischief's handywork...

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

While I agree with you that the Loki concept would help explain the behavior of certain characters, it would be a little too reminiscent of what's been going on with the Ultimates.

He can recover, but it shouldn't be done with ONE crisis. What has happened has hurt so many people.

Rodimus Prime was directly responsible for the Death of Optimus Prime.
He then became leader of the Autobots.

Believe me...ANYONE can recover.

The only way all this Civil War sh!t will disappear is if there is some other-worldly or supernatural force/influence behind the scenes... things will get back to normal and it will all fade away from everyone's memories in the Marvel Universe and the only one to remember everything that happened will be the Watcher...

Tony Stark...mass murderer.

Stark starts off as flawed a super hero as you can get. He used to be a weapons manufacturer, so you can in some respects say he is indirectly responsible for all the deaths caused by his product.

During the Crossing, he was revealed to not only be an agent of Kang, but that he had always been. He betrays the Avengers, off-ed Yellowjacket (Rita DeMara) and the Avengers Inhuman babysitter Marilla (note the bloody teddy bear), and ripped out the heart of his younger time displaced counterpart.

A few months ago, in his own title, he gets mind-controlled by a teenager, and kills not only a number of "bad men", he takes out a commercial airliner.

Afterall this, he manipulates poor Peter Parker and breaks Captain America, the Sentinel of Liberty's, jaw.

Can he recover...sure. We all just forget this ever happened and never speak of it or "Civil War" again.

Ran across these pages looking for something else recently and I set them aside.

They show a sitdown between Steve and Tony following the Operation: Galactic Storm fallout. I wonder if something similar can't happen after CW?
