Has anyone ever attended Otakon in Baltimore?

Supp fellow Animaniacs. I found out that there is this convention called Otakon in Baltimore and it's being held end of July. I'm interested in going and this will be my first time, mainly to purchase anime statues. If anyone has ever gone, can you tell me if its worth it or tell me how your experience was?

It was my first anime con back in 2002 or so, been there every year since (except for one year) but I've got a lot of friends in the community. I'd say it's worth it but it depends entirely on what you're planning to do, I either go to work or hang with friends.

Any statues there? Is it a big convention? Or a small room area?

It's the 2nd biggest anime convention (behind Anime Expo), you're looking at around 40k people. Pretty large area, dealer's room is usually large as well.

Plenty of anime statues, not so many comic book related.
