I remember Arlene back from her work on Days of Our Lives as Calliope Jones. She was a wacky character and apparently a lot of her scenes with John De Lancie (Q from Star Trek the Next Generation) on Days were ad libbed. I do remember them being very funny together and having quite a bit of chemistry.

RIP Arlene

She breathed life into Harley Quinn, a character who didn’t exist until she gave voice to her. RIP to an incredible voice talent, right up there with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hammil.

This is sad news, indeed. I was blessed to meet her and the late Kevin Conroy at a Dallas-area comic convention, many years ago. They signed this 8x10 of Batman and Harley Quinn for me; I still have it.

She’s the only Harley for me. TAS in my opinion is as pure as it has ever been and probably will ever be.

Harley wouldn’t be as beloved as she is without Arleen’s voice. There are few characters that I instantly put a voice to them when I read - Kevin Conroy (Batman), Arleen Sorkin (Harley), and Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm).

For the rest of my life they will have these voices in my mind.
