big pass on the exclusive, I would have done a symbiote version than an unmasked one.

None on my statue.
It is really unique but I do prefer the one with his mask on. Well I have both so that is a good thing

I think the biggest problem with unmasked pieces like this is getting a human likeness that all fans can look at and go "yep, that's [whoever] all right!" as there has been so many different artistic interpretations over the years, and amongst those few truly definitive ones. Whereas with the mask on everyone can look at that and instantly go "yep, that's Spidey" almost regardless of the art or style it's based on.
So yeah, I agree, personally I think the symbiote version would have made for a better, and more popular, variant, but hey, that's just me.

Doesn't have the same appeal with the mask off.

That is definately a tricky problem to address. We tried to use as much reference as possible from the Romita's interpretation of Peter since their work was the source for the original. There aren't too many unmasked versions of Spidey out there so this is one is kind of unique in that way.
As for identifying the character, he does still have the rest of the costume on right?

True enough, that identifies him as Spider-Man all right, but as Peter Parker as Spider-Man, not quite so sure, at least in my own minds eye anyway.
I'm probably just being nit-picky, and it's still a very nice piece regardless anyway.
